April 2026 was marked by series of three aerial attacks on Tuapse refinery on the coast of the Russian Black Sea, which led to continued fire storms and destruction of at least two dozens of fuel tanks on the premises. The attacks left Tuapse covered in thick, black and oily smoke, with leaks into the Black Sea and oily rain over the town, which caused some residents to complain as they imagined they fill find easy seaside life and beaty on the coast. In their complaints they however seem to completely forgotten about the war that Russia is waging on Ukraine for the last four years and numerous disasters caused by Russian army, including blowing up Nova Kakhovka dam, dozens of fuel depots, refineries and chemical factories bombed and blown up, as part of "forcing Ukrainians to peace by making their towns uninhabitable". Interestingly, Russian state media continue to use the narrative that it was merely "debris" that caused fire on the fuel depot, which implies that if Russian air defense didn't shoot down the Ukrainian drones, they would peacefully continue their flight to the designated military targets further inside the land - at least that's the logic presented by Russia's UN representative Nebenzya in 2024. Russian military experts in the meanwhile complain that these attacks are possible mostly because all air defense systems, which are now in shortage, have been relocated to Moscow to protect Putin's residences.
