In News in Depth, Marcin Zaborowski, TVP World Europe Editor, argues that the new Congress could prove significantly more supportive of Ukraine than the current administration. According to him, there is even a possibility that U.S. aid to Kyiv could be restored. At the same time, Zaborowski stresses that despite the Democratic victory, Donald Trump still retains broad powers in foreign policy. Even if Congress approves new support packages for Ukraine, the president can continue to influence the timing of deliveries, the pace of implementation, and the type of military assistance provided. Zaborowski also notes that the Kremlin is likely to view the election results in two ways: as a setback because of a more pro-Ukraine Congress, but also as an opportunity given that Trump still has two years left in office. In Moscow's calculations, those remaining years could create room to pursue policies that a future administration might be less willing to support.
