Taylor, former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine, in an interview with TVP World. According to Taylor, Ukrainians are fighting not only to end the war but also to preserve a stable and democratic future for their country. The latest support march for dismissed politician Mykhailo Fedorov is evidence of that commitment. Taylor argued that the protests demonstrate that Ukraine is “a real democracy,” something many Russians fail to understand because opposing the authorities in Russia can lead to imprisonment. At the same time, Donald Trump appears to be walking back on his earlier statements about granting Ukraine licenses to produce Patriot air defense systems. “The Ukrainians are not waiting. They are trying to build their own version of the Patriots,” Taylor added. “Ukrainians are winning on the battlefield right now,” Taylor said. He argued that Russia cannot endlessly replace the soldiers it continues to lose at the front. Nevertheless, the former diplomat believes that Vladimir Putin has no intention of ending the war, even though he “cannot win” it.
