Volkov does not even bother to explain why Russia needs or should get this piece of land, apart from mentioning fake referendum from 2014 which was not even conducted on the whole Donbas as Russia controlled much smaller part of it back then. Volkov then says "just give us that 30 km so we can live peacefully", skipping the part that the only reason why dozens of Donbas towns were leveled and thousands of people are dead is because Putin decided to start a military intervention in 2014 and then again in 2022, while the people were already "living peacefully" before 2014. In addition to all of the above lies, there remains the foundational fallacy of the apparently common-sense argument "why they can't just give up this piece of land for peace" - what guarantees anyone has that Russia will actually stop their offensive after Ukraine gives up Donbas, granted that Russia had violated all its past written security guarantees? This kind of deception is quite typical for Russia, especially that Putin has never clearly declared the goals of the "special military operation", and those he declared (annexation of four regions of Ukraine) go way beyond just "administrative borders of Donbas".
