Getting into a Russian university is becoming harder for students with top exam scores as special quotas reserve state-funded places for participants in the war and their families, while universities simultaneously recruit students into military service, expand drone programs and train specialists for the defense industry. Investigations show that drone-related programs and recruitment efforts are now present in 81 of Russia’s 83 regions, with some students offered financial and academic incentives to join the military.
