Ukrainian skeleton racer Vladyslav Heraskevych was banned from using a helmet at the 2026 Olympics that depicted fallen Ukrainian athletes. At the same time, an Italian snowboarder competed wearing a helmet with the Russian flag - which is prohibited and "there was no reaction to this." Roland Fischnaller violated the ban and competed at the 2026 Olympics wearing a helmet with the Russian flag. In addition to the tricolor, the Italian snowboarder’s helmet also featured the flags of all the countries where he had competed at the Olympics, but unlike the others, Russian or Belarusian flags at the Games are taboo. In response to an inquiry from Tribuna, the International Olympic Committee was unable to explain why Fischnaller was allowed to circumvent this rule.
