Daughter of a Russian soldier describes how rule of law works in Russia

A young Russian woman describes how her father, who had spent his entire life in the military, signed up to fight in the war in Ukraine, whilst her mother fell seriously ill whilst she herself was still a minor. Legitimate attempts to secure leave to help the family were unsuccessful; her father only managed to arrive on the very day his wife died, leaving his underage daughter without care. The girl describes the ordeal the whole family went through trying – in accordance with the law – to secure leave for her father to care for his child, including letters to every possible authority, including Putin, which went unheeded. The family eventually secures a favourable court ruling, which, however... is simply ignored by her father’s military unit. The girl sums it up by saying that “the military unit is above the military prosecutor’s office”. Ultimately, when the girl turns 18, the right to care for a minor becomes irrelevant and the father is immediately taken to the front the very next day. Millions of Russians have experienced similar trials and tribulations, yet they do not seem capable of connecting the dots and realising that this system of state lawlessness was built in their country by Putin, and that he is its main guarantor and beneficiary.
