<description>On 20 December 2025 US Secretary of State Marco Rubio outlined Washington’s stance on Ukraine-Russia peace talks in a quick speech, which was widely framed through one phrase he used: "it's not our war". In reality, Marco didn't even say that - he said "it's not our war per se", after clearly stating that US "has equities and has engagement" in the war. He further states that America’s role as a facilitator, not a direct party to the war. Rubio then goes into details on US vision of ceasefire, highlighting that he doesn't see "any perspective of surrender by any side", including Ukraine. This 2025 video has been often confronted with Rubio's 2014 Senate floor speech where he categorically defended US enforcing its security assurances offered in 1994 to Ukraine for the sake of global non-proliferation efforts.
