CCTV video footage from the occupied Donetsk region indicates that Russia has actually fired not one but two "Oreshnik" missiles on Ukraine on the night 23/24 May 2026. The reason why the second one was never spotted in Ukraine was that its warhead detached itself early, dropping the six characteristic inert blocks over the Russia-controlled territory. The first missile dropped its warhead near long disused Bila Tserkva air base in Ukraine, raising questions what was its purpose as the airbase had been not used for years. Russian opposition military expert Yuri Fedorov suggested the first missile was actually targeted at Kyiv, but also malfunctioned.
