After years of sabre rattling and threatening with forcible "return of Odessa to Russia", Russian propagandist Vladimir Solovyov started suddenly experienced change of heart and started to argue the opposite - that there's no "our people" in Odesa and "what's the point" of returning it. While the talk shows look like genuine arguments where participant have genuine views, this issue rather clearly demonstrates what role Solovyov plays at least - his job is to announce and inject into mainstream the ideas that should now become the canonical thinking for Russian people, who rarely will recall what was said a year or two before. This way, the show prepares Russian audience for the reality where Odesa will not "return" to Russia, as promised by Putin and top Russian officials before, but also makes them genuinely believe the idea was never really seriously considered by anyone.
