Alexander Dugin speaks of collectivism, "Cheburashka" and North Korea

In an interview with Ksenia Sobchak, Russian fascist philosopher Aleksandr Dugin once again made a number of unorthodox statements. These included describing North Korea as 'the island of freedom', ranting about the popular Soviet cartoon character Cheburashka (whom he called 'a liberal'), and proposing that internet access should be granted exclusively to 'distinguished citizens'. Dugin's technique is not much different from common internet trolling, except he uses language that appeals to intellectuals. One of the few serious points he makes in the interview concerns the similarities between North Korean and Russian society. He describes both as 'collective', and in this respect he certainly does believe. Both Soviet and Russian culture reject the idea of the 'human individual'; they believe in humans only as part of a large collective, destined to fulfil great (or not so great) achievements under some enlightened leadership. This is precisely where the Russian contempt for the idea of 'human rights' in general lies.
